About Elizabeth King Humphrey
Elizabeth is an independent communications consultant with more than 15 years of experience helping organizations in regulated B2B and B2C markets—clinical research, pharmaceutical development, healthcare, and higher education—build the communications infrastructure that sustains reputation, drives alignment, and earns trust.
She has spent her career building enterprise communications functions from scratch, advising C-suite leaders on external narrative and issues management, and developing the messaging architectures that make complex organizations legible to every audience they serve. Her work spans public relations and media strategy, executive communications, brand narrative, crisis preparedness, and internal alignment.
Earlier in her career she worked in higher education communications at UNC Wilmington, where she led editorial planning and production for an alumni magazine reaching 50,000+ readers. She has since held senior communications roles at PPD, a 24,000-person global contract research organization (CRO), CVS Health (Fortune 4), and Catalyst Clinical Research.
Elizabeth holds an MFA in Creative Writing from UNC Wilmington, a BA in Political Science from Columbia University, a Graduate Certificate in Technical & Professional Communications from East Carolina University, and an Editing Certificate from the University of Chicago. Her technical knowledge extends to SEO, AEO, and GEO strategy, content architecture, and metadata—disciplines she has applied across content programs at every stage.
Elizabeth is based in Wilmington, North Carolina, and works with clients remotely.
